Russia is the largest country in the world. it lies in the easten part of europe and in the northen part of asia - on eurasia continent. russia is washed by the twelve seas and three oceans. there are three main mountain chains in russia. the urals separates europe from asia. moscow is the capital of russia. it was founded in 1147.  the other  main big cities are moscow, saint-petersburg, kazan, yekaterinburg, sochi, rostov-on-don. people who are fond of old architecture, like to visit such cities as vladmir, suzdal, murom, ivanovo. the population of russia is about 150 million people. the russian language is the official language of the country. the russian language is considered to be one of the richest and most complex languages in the world. there are different types of climate on the territory of russia. it is very cold in the north even in summer. the central part of the country has mild climate: winters are cold, springs and autumns are warm or cool, summers are hot and warm. on the whole  the weather is very changeable.

большая часть европейской территории россии расположена в пределах восточно-европейской (или ) равнины. в центральной ее части располагаются возвышенности, которые разделяются понижениями — мещерской низменностью, окско-донской равниной и долинами рек. наиболее крупные реки из них — волга, дон, кама, ока. на кольском п-ове равнина ограничена хибинскими горами, достигающими вые. 1191 м. в южной части равнины протянулась полоса приморских низменностей — кубано-приазовская, прикаспийская, кумо-манычская впадина. к берегу каспийского моря прикаспийская низменность понижается до отметки -27 м — самой низкой точки россии. самая южная возвышенность европейской части россии — ставропольская, представляющая собой переход к горам кавказа. протяженность гор большого кавказа 1500 км. на кавказе находится самая высокая гора россии — эльбрус (5642 м).

most of the european territory of russia is located within the east european (or russian) plain. in the central part of the hill are located, which are separated by depressions - mescherskaya lowlands, oka-don plain and river valleys. the major rivers of them - the volga, don, kama, oka. on the kola peninsula russian plain is bounded by mountains khibiny reaching high. 1191 m. in the southern part of the russian plain stretches strip of coastal lowlands - kuban-azov, caspian, kuma-manych depression. by the shores of the caspian sea caspian lowland reduced to the level of -27 m - the lowest point of russia. the southernmost hill of the european part of russia - stavropol, representing the transition to the mountains of the caucasus. the length of the greater caucasus mountains 1500 km. in the caucasus is the highest mountain in russia - elbrus (5642 m).
