A hundred years ago, life 1) was very different for the Inuit in Canada. In those days, they 2) didn't have houses to live in; they 3) had igloos - houses made of ice. The Inuit 4) were hunters of whales and seals. They only 5) had meat and fish to eat. They 6) couldn't eat any fruit or vegetables because there 7) weren't any trees or plants. The Inuit 8) had Husky dogs to help them pull their sledges. They also 9) had kayaks - small canoes - to help them hunt in the sea. Their favourite free-time activities 10) were dancing and arts and crafts.

Today, life for the Inuit 11) isn't the same as it 12) was a hundred years ago. They 13) haven't got igloos now. They 14) have got modern houses and they live in small towns. They 15) have got schools, hospitals, shops and many other modern buildings in the towns. These days, the Inuit 16)  can eat anything they like. They 17) haven't got sledges anymore. They travel by skidoo - a kind of motorbike on ice. Today, their favourite free-time activities are listening to pop music and going to the cinema just like most other Canadians.
