The festival lasts for two weeks and attracts people from all over Ireland and the rest of the world. Preparations for the festival begin many weeks before the event. Participating artists and musicians create new works of art and practice their performances so that they are ready in time. Local people prepare exhibition centres, and engineers and technicians install stages and stalls around the town. h During the festival there are many events and activities, which include exciting live music concerts, theatre and dance performances, comedy shows and visual arts performances. The streets are crowded for two weeks, and some people wear weird haircuts and colorful costumes. The Galway Arts Festival is always an unforgettable event.
