Centre, theatre, and other words that end in-tre in British English end with -ter in American English, e.g. center, theater. GRAMMAR American grammar is very similar to British grammar, but with some small differences, especially prepositions. For example, Americans say See you Friday, but British people say See you on Friday, PRONUNCIATION The most important difference between American and British English is pronunciation.
