Computer is one of the greatest inventions of the century. The ancestor of modern computer was just a simple calculating machine created by Charles Babbage, an English professor of mathematics. He invented this machine in 1812.
With the appearance of computer many things have lost their importance. People don’t listen CD-or MP3-player. They’ve stopped buying newspapers and magazines. Many have taken online classes. Thus, computers and Internet have become an integral part of every family. Internet is the main stream of information nowadays. It informs us, entertains and educates. We find every day news online, educational resources, films, music, games.

Millions of documents can be kept on one device. The quality of photos can be easily improved. Video calls can reduce distance between friends and relatives. In today’s world, computers are used nearly in all branches of industry. Even in that one that are dangerous and harmful to human health. Scientists can’t imagine space research without using computers. Today computers can diagnose very severe illnesses and help to carry out operations.
People who work with computers are called programmers. In present days programming is very popular and useful profession because most of work such as paying wages, reserving seats on planes, controlling sputniks, composing music and other is done by computers. Computers and the Internet embraced all globe and gave people an opportunity to connect with the whole world and get information which they need about it.

However, computers have certain disadvantages. Computers have turned people into passive creatures. They can spend hours in front of the monitors, which results into poor eyesight and other health issues. The group, which is most at risk, is young children. So they spend a lot of time at the monitor of the computer playing virtual computer games, watching videos or just browsing the Internet. As a result children do not develop physically. They do not spend time outdoors playing sports or games. Later it is difficult for them to have live communication with other people because they lack necessary communicative and social skills.
If they are being used wisely and moderately, then they can make our life better.
