In order to answer this question, we need to find out what charity is. According to the dictionary, “charity” means money, food, or other help that is given to people and kindness towards other people; an official organization that gives money, food, or help to people who need it.
Charity is very important for providing public benefits in times of need in any part of the world, especially to those who are the victims of war, natural disaster, catastrophe, hunger, disease or poverty. As everyone has problems and troubles in life, some people know how to help and support in difficult situations or raise money for orphanages or animal shelters. Hence, these people take great pains in order to back up those in need. Sometimes neither the market nor the state can solve pressing social issues. In this case, we need charitable organizations or associations; besides, it allows us to change society for the better.
There are thousands of charitable organizations in the world: the handicapped and the disabled, for the poor, for saving endangered species or homeless cats and dogs, for victims of any wars and conflicts, and many more. You can either donate money, pieces of clothing, toys, and other things or become a volunteer, thus helping to conduct the internal affairs of the organization.
If your aim is to show off, not to help others, then charity is not your cup of tea. The desire to help and support people in need should be sincere. However, charity cannot be based only on generosity and emotion. You start with a desire to help, and then you determine the goals, so the help takes a specific form and becomes more effective.
