After the first book in the creative work of the talented novelist there are collections of short stories "Do not cut the ashes", "Poplar blizzard", "House on the mountain", a novel-trilogy "The edge of the beaten path", after which the theater. Maria Zankovetskaya staged a play, the story "Thirst". It was good literature, but still, compared to what was written later, it was a transitional stage.

  Roman Ivanychuk's next book, published 10 years after the first, became a literary-historical event. This was another writer who revealed to the public his first historical novel, Mallow. Although for us, his fellow philologists, it was no surprise. Interest in history was already manifested in the fact that for his thesis, a graduate of the university chose the theme of the struggle for the creation, approval of the Department of Ukrainian Literature at Lviv University. How he worked in the archives, how happy he was with every document found! From this began his creative interest in our national history.
