the first day at school dill left us carly in september, & i had to start school in a week. i never waited more for anything in my life. jem took me to school the first day. miss caroline fisher, our teacher, was no more than twenty-one. she began the day by reading us a story about cats. the cats had long conversations with one another, they lived in a warm house under a kitchen floor. miss caroline came to the end of the story & said "wasn't that nice? "" then she went to the blackboard, wrote the alphabet in big letters, turned to the class & asked: "does anybody know what these are? " everybody did, but she chose me. i read the alphabet & she made me read most of my "first reader". "everybody who brings his lunch put it on the desk." miss caroline walked up to walter cunningham's desk. "where is your lunch? " she asked.. "did you forget it this morning? " saying that miss caroline went to her desk. "here is some money," she said to walter. "go & eat in town today. you can pay me back tomorrow". walter shook his head again. i wanted to help him. "miss caroline, he's one of cunninghams,"" i said. "what, jean louise? " we all understood it. he didn't forget his lunch, he just didn't have any. he had none today nor would he have any tomorrow or the next day. "you will get to know all the country-folks after a while. the cunninghams never take anything they can't pay back. they live on what they have. they don't have much, but they live on it. walter hasn't got money to bring you." "jean louise, i've had enough of you this morning", said miss caroline. "you're starting off on the wrong foot in every way, my dear," & she told me to stand in the corner. i didn't stand long there for the bell rang & miss caroline watched the class go for lunch. as i was the last to leave, i saw her fall into her chair & put her head in her hands.

My name is alexandra, i’m thirteen years old. my favourite holiday is my birthday. on this day i get up early, but by that time my mother already cooks food for a festive table in the kitchen. in the morning my family and friends begin to give presents and congratulate me. my parents and younger brother always want me to remember this day for a long time that’s why they decorate the flat with many-coloured little balls. on this day a lot of my friends and relations usually come to see me. when we all get together we sit down to table and begin to celebrate my birthday. everybody has a good time dances and communicates with each other, the music plays loudly. at the end of the holiday we turn off the lights and my father brings a big cake with candles. i must blow out the candles and make a wish. after that we have tea with a cake and then we dismiss the guests. i would like to celebrate my birthday every month because all our relations and friends can meet together on this day. i grow up every year but my birthday always remains the most unforgettable holiday of the year меня зовут александра, мне тринадцать лет. мой любимый праздник это мой день рождения. в этот день я встаю рано, но к тому времени моя мама уже варит еду для праздничного стола в кухне. утром моя семья и друзья начинают дарить подарки и поздравлять меня. мои родители и младший брат всегда хочешь, чтобы запомнить этот день на долгое время, поэтому они украшают плоские с разноцветными маленькими шариками. в этот день многие мои друзья и отношения обычно приходят, чтобы увидеть меня. когда мы все вместе садимся к столу и начинаем праздновать мой день рождения. каждый имеет хорошее время танцует и общается друг с другом, музыка играет громко. в конце праздника мы выключим свет и мой отец приносит большой торт со свечами. я должна задуть свечи и загадать желание. после этого мы чай с тортиком и потом распускаем в гости. я бы хотел, чтобы отпраздновать мой день рождения каждый месяц, потому что все наши отношения и друзья могут собираться вместе в этот день. я выращиваю каждый год, но мой день рождения всегда остается самым незабываемым праздником в году
