The Hermitage Museum is one of the world’s greatest art galleries. The rich collection of the Hermitage attracting very many people since it opened to the public. 2 500 000 exhibits are displaing in the Museum’s halls and galleries. If somebody wants to look for a minute at each exhibit it will take him 12 years to see all of them.

When the Director of the Hermitage asked how the Museum got such a big collection, he answered: “The history of our Museum began in 1764 when 225 paintings purchased in the West by Catherine the Great.
